Donat

Rogaška Medical Centre is home to this unique natural healing mineral water, the richest in magnesium.

Donat natural mineral water is around 8,000 years old and has proven healing effects.

Deep underground (between 280 and 600 metres under the surface) the spring water is enriched by minerals from the dissolving rocks (magnesium, calcium, sulphates, hydrogencarbonates) and other elements (CO2).

One litre of Donat contains as much as 1,040 milligrams of magnesium. Magnesium and other minerals give Donat Mg the healing power that soothes and prevents numerous diseases and protects our health. Therefore, it has been successfully used in medicine for several centuries for soothing health problems.

Pearl of nature

This pearl of nature is formed at a depth of 280 to 600 m by the dissolution of rocks rich in magnesium, calcium, sulphates, hydrogen carbonates and a range of other elements required for the correct functioning of metabolic processes in the body. It is accompanied by large quantities of free carbonic acids. The source of the water is constantly renewed. In terms of its age, it is classified among old ground waters of meteoric origin. Using the 13 C method, it was found that the average age of Donat mineral water is roughly 8000 years. The effects the drinking and inhalation of Donat Mg have on our health have been thoroughly studied.

  • Because of its chemical composition and physical properties, as well as balneological knowledge and medical findings, it has been used for therapeutic and preventive purposes at the Rogaška Slatina health spa for over 100 years.

  • Donat Mg can be classified in a group of natural mineral waters that have beneficial effects in the case of certain health problems and that play a protective role in maintaining health. There are quite a few natural mineral waters in the world that have favourable effects on well-being and health, yet those suitable for continuous drinking are few and far between.

  • Donat Mg’s composition makes it a one-of-a-kind natural mineral water that we can drink throughout our lives.

  • It is characterised by its exceptionally high mineral content, with over 13 g of matter per litre (together with CO2), of which magnesium alone accounts for 1000 mg/l and calcium for around 300 mg/l. It also contains many other elements and compounds that are beneficial to our health.

  • Donat Mg is an acidulous or mineral water, which means that it contains more than 1000 mg of its own CO2/l at the spring.

DONAT MG IS RICH IN VITAL MINERALS

  • magnesium,

  • calcium,

  • sodium,

  • hydrogen carbonate

  • and sulphate.

These minerals are essential for supporting various bodily functions such as digestion, stomach acid regulation and metabolism. Magnesium, which is particularly present in Donat Mg, supports normal muscle and nervous system function. The carbon dioxide in the water acts as a natural stabiliser and increases the feeling of refreshment. Together, these elements contribute to the beneficial effects of Donat Mg on the body.

Frequently asked questions

Donat is a highly mineralized natural mineral water, rich in magnesium and containing very little table salt. Donat also acts as a laxative, and excessive consumption can lead to diarrhea, which may result in excessive fluid loss from the body.

The recommended amount of Donat is up to 1 liter, especially when taken on an empty stomach or before meals. To ensure proper kidney function, other fluids such as regular water, tea, or other drinks should also be consumed. Donat is not suitable for quenching thirst.

Donat has been known since Roman or even Celtic times, and over 400 years have passed since the publication of the first book describing the healing waters of Rogaška Slatina

Donat is a highly mineralized natural mineral water, rich in magnesium and containing very little table salt. Due to its strong mineralization, a residue forms in the glass because the water evaporates. The water you drink still contains the full amount of minerals.

The minerals left in the glass are just the dry residue from the evaporated water. If you leave a larger amount of Donat mineral water in the glass for a longer period or in a warm place, a residue will accumulate at the bottom because you get nearly 14 grams of dry residue from evaporating just 1 liter of Donat mineral water.

Donat should always be consumed before meals and lukewarm. When heated, the gas evaporates, so it is recommended to drink Donat without gas.

The CO2 added to beverages, including natural mineral waters, does not cause cellulite. However, it is not recommended for people with a sensitive throat, as it can cause hoarseness. The feeling when drinking carbonated beverages is that they are colder. Carbon dioxide is also a natural preservative and a common companion of natural mineral waters, both underground, where they originate, and on their way to the surface.

Donat natural mineral water is particularly recommended for gastroenterological and metabolic disorders, so it is best to drink it before meals and lukewarm. When the water is heated, CO2 is released. This happens because the increase in temperature causes a decrease in pressure, and carbon dioxide leaves the water. You can then pour it into a glass and stir well.

Due to its high magnesium content, Donat is also recommended for healthy individuals, especially for pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers.

Donat helps alleviate the symptoms of certain conditions and prevents their onset. It is a high-mineral natural water that contains essential minerals, with magnesium being the most important for the body. The amount of Donat natural mineral water consumed varies depending on the condition.

For constipation, it is recommended to drink larger quantities, especially on an empty stomach. For stomach issues, it’s better to drink smaller amounts multiple times a day, but always before meals (about 20 minutes before eating). The same amount is also recommended for osteoporosis prevention and general well-being.

Therefore, it is recommended to drink lukewarm Donat mineral water up to 1 liter a day, and to take a one-month break a few times a year.
