Gastroenterology experience in Rogaška Slatina is extensive. Medical Center Rogaška has been one of the most highly regarded centres in Slovenia for many years, renowned for its professionalism, friendliness, modern diagnostic equipment and procedures. All-in-one-place allows patients to receive comprehensive and personalised treatment.
Gastroenterological treatment can be chosen as a preventive measure, especially if a close relative has had gastrointestinal cancer (positive family history). In the case of gastrointestinal problems and symptoms, it is good to know that they are very common and mostly resolve on their own or with natural remedies. So, any abdominal pain does not mean that gastrointestinal examinations are necessary. However, if the problems are frequent, long-lasting or recurrent, or if alarm symptoms occur, it is time to have a check-up, appropriate tests and the right treatment.
Alarm symptoms for gastrointestinal diseases are signs that may indicate serious or potentially life-threatening illnesses. It is necessary to visit a family doctor as soon as possible to assess the seriousness of the problems and the necessity of specialist examinations and tests of the gastrointestinal tract.
Alarm symptoms include:
Gastrointestinal bleeding: bloody vomit, black or bloody stools
Unintentional weight loss, lack of appetite, resistance to food
Vomiting: if frequent, recurrent or vomiting blood
Difficulty swallowing (dysphagia), pain or food getting stuck in the oesophagus
Severe abdominal pain, prolonged or recurrent abdominal pain
Anaemia (erythrocyte and haemoglobin deficiency) without known cause
Prolonged diarrhoea or constipation, or alternating constipation and diarrhoea, discharge of very thin stools
